More about Leanne..

Hi, my name is Leanne and I am 25 years of age. I first sat on a pony at the age of four when my legs weren't long enough to reach down past the saddle, I used to get angry because they wouldn’t allow me to go fast or jump so I would ride with no stirrups. At the age of 15 I got my first horse, Solo, who taught me everything I know, including how to sit a buck! However, until I got him I worked at my local riding school every weekend and school holidays in return for lessons and to prove to my parents that ‘Horses are my life’.

After studying Horse Management at college for two years I started working in the industry on hunting, livery, point to point and top eventing yards until I realized that my passion lies in teaching, training, backing and re-schooling ex-racehorses. So two years ago I bit the bullet and took my BHS PTT exam and became a qualified instructor. I intend to complete my AI this year.

So I have two beautiful boys- the first being Ollijay aka Ollie. He is a 14 year old ex-racer and I have had the pleasure of owning him for 7 years. He may only be small at 16hh (just) but he has the biggest heart and the braveness of a lion. We compete at Novice / Intermediate BE and Elementary BE with our first and not our last CIC 1* together at Gatcombe in September. Next season we are aiming to qualify for the Gatcombe novice grassroots followed by moving up to intermediate over the next couple of years and who knows even maybe have a go at a 2*!

My second handsome boy is a 5 year old Irish Sport Horse known as Dylan at home or Good Friday when out and about. I have owned Dylan since he was 6 months old and had the exciting task of backing him myself in which he was a dream! It was once he hit the 4 mark that it got interesting. I thought Solo knew how to buck!!! I have produced Dylan into what I feel is a cracking Event horse. He has completed his first ODE over a BE track at Chepstow and came an amazing 7th on a fab double clear. He will be doing his first full season at BE next year starting at 90 and gradually moving up the levels once he is ready. The aim is to go out and qualify for Badminton Grassroots.
